KUANTAN: Computer software development and tests play an important role in developing the national economy when Malaysia becomes the hub of these programmes.
Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Dr Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah (pix) said this was because Malaysia is set to become the destination of choice for foreigners who want to conduct these tests.
He said the field of information and communications technology was highlighted in the 11th Malaysia Plan as it could contribute to Malaysia attaining the developed nation status.
"One of the scopes in ICT which can generate the national economy is by making Malaysia a hub for computer testing and software development.
"The programme was realised through the cooperation of the private sector and the government since 2009," Abu Bakar said in his speech at the dinner event of the ISO/IEC/JTC1/SC7 meeting on computer software and engineering systems held here last night. — Bernama
