Police should take action against Jamal for arson threat

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar (pix) said she is shocked that police have yet to take any action against Umno Sungai Besar division chief Datuk Jamal Yunus for making an arson threat.
"This is dangerous as it gives him a sense of impunity, which means he can do whatever he wants and nothing will happen to him.
"Today he can just say he wants to burn down Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim billboards, and tomorrow it can be anyone that is lesser known," she said when asked for comments on the arson threat made by Jamal on Wednesday.
She said PKR has lodged police reports on the threat and will not stoop to answering or countering the threat with a protest, as they did not wish to instigate the public.

"While we have a certain degree of responsibility towards the public, it is also important for the police to take proactive action against such threats, as this should not be allowed to happen at all," she said.
On Wednesday, Jamal issued an ultimatum to the Selangor government to remove all the #BebasAnwar (#FreeAnwar) billboards within seven days, failing which the billboards would be burned down.
