TO those eagerly waiting to register for the upcoming Standard Chartered KL Marathon (SCKLM) 2016, stand by your computers and smart phones as registration starts today!
This year marks SCKLM’s eighth installation. Due to previous hiccups, registration will be carried out on a staggered basis. Details can be found on www.kl-marathon.com or the Standard Chartered KL Marathon Facebook page.

IMPORTANT INFO AND NUMBERS
For starters, this year’s race will take place on Aug 7, flagging off from Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. Other than the staggered registration system, other new measures are:
▶ The official cut-off time for the full marathon has been extended to seven hours.
▶ A checkpoint system (practised in international marathons) will be implemented this year. Runners will need to arrive at each checkpoint within the designated time or will be shuttled back to Dataran Merdeka.
▶ There will be a Friendship Run and Pasta Run on the eve of race day, opened to full marathon participants. It aims to foster camaraderie among runners from around the world who are participating in the full marathon.
▶ This year’s participating beneficiaries for the Run For A Reason are Standard Chartered Foundation (SCF), Hospis Malaysia, Yayasan Sejahtera and IJN Foundation.
▶ Title sponsor of the SCKLM 2016 is Standard Chartered Bank.
The event owner and organiser is Dirigo Events Sdn Bhd and the co-organiser is Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur. For registration dates, refer to the chart. Registration starts today and closes on May 30 or until slots are sold out, whichever comes first.
